For this project, I was tasked with planning a concept and photoshoot to create a poster for an existing film. The film I chose to create was for the film “Evil Dead” (2013). The process consisted of using a Canon camera to shoot the photos and compositing them together in Photoshop.
I began by coming up with sketches for the poster. I wanted to create a concept that alluded to the themes and events of the film without being completely on the nose. I also took inspiration from vintage horror film posters from the 80’s to try and gain an idea of how I can turn this photography project into an almost illustrative looking image.
With the ideas fleshed out and the sketches finished, I moved on to the photoshoot. My model and I, planned a date to meet in the studio and together we experimented with different poses to gain options of usable material during the editing process. After I had obtained all of the shots I needed, I transfered all of the RAW images to photoshop and went to work on compositing the different images together. When I had the composition in a way I was satisfied with, I added several lighting effects and additional artistic elements to draw upon the vintage illustrative aesthetic.
